According to Odaily Planet Daily, after the fugitive Qian Zhimin was arrested in the UK, the victimized investors in the case of Tianjin Lantian Grey Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. suspected of illegally absorbing public deposits saw a turning point in recovering their losses.
Some legal scholars said that although China and the United Kingdom have signed a treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, there are no detailed provisions on the conditions for returning or sharing assets, and international asset recovery requires international cooperation and consultation.
On July 25, the British court agreed to serve the liquidation application documents to Qian Zhimin. The court is expected to hear another court session in September and the recovery will enter the civil judicial process.
The British court will need more time to clarify the case, and the fluctuation and realization of Bitcoin value are uncertain. British police seized 61,000 Bitcoins, believing that these Bitcoins were mainly the proceeds of Qian Zhimin's crimes.
