Most notably in Niger, thousands of protesters gathered outside the French military base in Niamey after a coup backed by Wagner succeeded, demanding the withdrawal of French troops.
Wagner launched wave after wave of disinformation campaigns on Telegram, reigniting sentiment for revenge against France as a former colonial power, resulting in France having to abandon several military bases and sever ties with countries Wagner supported.
Since then, Telegram has become one of the many factors that made it impossible for the French to counter information warfare operations.
