Bitcoin Fog founder Roman Sterlingov’s lawyers are opposing a “long” prison sentence if he is found guilty of money laundering, PANews reported. Sterlingov’s legal team called the 20 to 30-year sentence requested by prosecutors “without basis.”
Previously, a jury in a federal court in Washington found Sterlingov guilty of four counts, including money laundering. Sterlingov was first charged in 2021 with money laundering and operating an illegal remittance service involving hundreds of millions of dollars, including $78 million from darknet markets. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
