According to TechFlow, OpenAI announced the appointment of Zico Kolter to its board of directors and will participate in the work of the Safety and Security Committee.
Kolter is the chair and professor of machine learning at Carnegie Mellon University, where he focuses on AI safety, alignment, and the robustness of machine learning classifiers.
Kolter holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University and conducted postdoctoral research at MIT, where he made important contributions to the field of machine learning.
He developed the first method for deep learning models with guaranteed robustness and innovated methods for automatically assessing the safety of large language models. Kolter also serves as Chief Expert at Bosch and Chief Technical Advisor at Gray Swan.
