According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India is actively monitoring cryptocurrency payment activities on the dark web, has set up a special task force, and launched digital forensics training to address the abuse of cryptocurrencies in drug trafficking.
Indian Home Minister Nityanand Rai revealed strategies to reduce the import and inter-state movement of narcotic drugs during a parliamentary discussion on July 24. According to NCB data, the number of drug seizure cases involving the dark web and cryptocurrencies has been growing steadily since 2022.
Rai detailed a 13-pronged action plan to combat India’s growing problem of drug trafficking and narco-terrorism, two of which involved cryptocurrency payments.
