According to ChainCatcher, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that a Florida man was convicted by a federal jury for planning and participating in multiple violent home invasions to steal cryptocurrency. Remy St Felix, 24, led a robbery gang that violently invaded the homes of multiple cryptocurrency holders in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and New York. In April 2023, St Felix and his accomplices broke into a victim's home, threatened with a gun and forced the victim to transfer more than $150,000 in cryptocurrency.
St Felix was arrested by the FBI in July 2023 while on his way to New York to commit a home invasion robbery and was convicted of nine counts, including conspiracy, kidnapping, Hobbs Law robbery, and wire fraud. He will be sentenced on September 11 and faces a minimum of seven years in prison and a maximum of life imprisonment. The case was jointly investigated and prosecuted by the FBI Charlotte Field Office and the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET).
