According to U.Today, a prominent member of the Dogecoin and X teams, known as 'DogeDesigner', has clarified that Tesla, the leading electric car manufacturer, accepts only one cryptocurrency - Dogecoin. Amidst frequent instances of misinformation about Tesla's cryptocurrency acceptance, DogeDesigner issued a reminder that Dogecoin is the sole cryptocurrency accepted by the company. This announcement was well-received by the Dogecoin community, with one user suggesting that it was time for Elon Musk to 'replenish the store with some goodies' that could be purchased with Dogecoin.
In January 2022, Elon Musk announced that Tesla would begin accepting Dogecoin as an experiment. Since then, customers have been able to purchase Tesla merchandise from the company's online store using Dogecoin. Among the items available for purchase with Dogecoin are the 'Giga Texas' belt buckle and a Tesla Cyberwhistle. A few months later, SpaceX followed suit and began accepting Dogecoin for its merchandise. In May 2024, Dogecoin was officially added as a payment option on Tesla's website. During a recent visit to the Berlin Gigafactory, Musk confirmed that Tesla is likely to start selling electric cars for Dogecoin in the future.
Musk has repeatedly confirmed throughout the year that neither X, Tesla, nor any of his other companies plan to release a native cryptocurrency. This statement comes in the wake of numerous misleading rumors about X planning to launch an 'X coin.'
