According to Foresight News, a survey funded by Bitcoin ETF issuer Grayscale has revealed that interest in cryptocurrency is on the rise among US voters. The Harris poll showed that 33% of respondents would consider a political candidate's stance on cryptocurrency before making their voting decision.
The online survey, which involved over 1700 participants, found that 77% believe US presidential candidates should at least have an 'informed view' on cryptocurrency. Almost everyone, except for 2%, had at least heard of Bitcoin (BTC). A significant number of voters claimed to be familiar with Ethereum, with less than half (46%) saying they had never heard of it.
Approximately 17% of voters indicated they had invested in Bitcoin, a percentage almost as high as those owning bonds and significantly higher than those investing in ETFs. 44% of voters believe to some extent that 'cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are the future of finance', a figure that has risen by four percentage points compared to the same question asked last year.
However, they expressed a desire for government oversight, with 52% of respondents stating they would be more likely to invest in digital assets if the sector received more regulation.
