According to Odaily Planet Daily, Bloomberg revealed that Hong Kong is considering allowing exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that invest directly in Ethereum to be pledged. The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission is discussing staking through licensed platforms with virtual asset ETF issuers. Although consultations are ongoing, there is no clear timetable. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission declined to comment on the matter. Market participants pointed out that once the Ethereum ETF adds the staking function, it will become an interest-bearing asset, which will be a milestone. If approved, the staking yield is expected to further boost demand for Hong Kong spot virtual currency ETFs.
