South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is investigating the conspirators of the Bitcoin Ponzi scheme Mirror Trading International (MTI), which was masterminded by the late Johann Steynberg, according to Odaily Planet Daily. NPA media relations director Isaac Dludlu said the prosecution is considering several charges against those involved, including fraud and forgery.

The conspirators also face charges of violating the Organized Crime Act and the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, and many remain at large, according to local media reports. The NPA’s hunt for MTI’s co-conspirators was revealed just weeks after Steynberg “died” while under house arrest in Brazil.
