According to U.Today, Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, recently shared insights about the company's biggest achievement during its ongoing lawsuit with the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Chris Vasquez’s Worldclass podcast. He also discussed his approach to hiring top talent for the company.
Garlinghouse, who previously held executive positions at several large Web2 companies and Yahoo, joined Ripple in 2015 after declining a job offer from Uber. He believed that working for Uber would not bring any significant changes to his life. During the podcast, he highlighted the major victory Ripple achieved in the SEC lawsuit that has been ongoing for the past four years.
The company faced challenging times when the lawsuit was initiated. However, a significant win came last year when federal judge Analisa Torres ruled that XRP sales on secondary markets do not qualify as security sales. Garlinghouse stated that this victory was not only important for Ripple but also for the industry, marking it as a 'big high'.
In addition to discussing the lawsuit, Garlinghouse also shared his strategy for attracting top talent to Ripple. He believes that the best talents, or 'A+ talents' as he referred to them, are motivated by more than just money. They want to make a significant impact, or 'leave a dent in the universe'. His approach, therefore, is to hire failed entrepreneurs for high-level positions.
Garlinghouse also expressed his belief that the U.S. government is targeting Tether. He views Tether and its USDT stablecoin as a crucial part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
