According to The Block: A Bored Ape Yacht Club collector has reportedly lost three valued non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in a phishing attack, underlining the cybersecurity risks that exist within the burgeoning digital asset marketplace.
Crypto investigator ZachXBT first reported the phishing incident, noting that the Bored Ape holder lost the NFTs BAYC #7531, BAYC #6736, and BAYC #2100, collectively valued at 54.8505 ETH (equivalent to $164,400). Etherscan's blockchain explorer has also indicated that the wallet linked to the BAYC NFT transactions had been involved in prior phishing scams.
These notably valuable NFTs each display unique and rare traits, contributing to their high price tags. For example, BAYC #7531 bears the uncommon 'white fur' trait, found in only 4% of the total 10,000 NFTs.
Interestingly, although these Bored Ape NFTs are valued highly, the collection's floor prices have seen a steady decline in recent months. Bored Ape Yacht Club floor prices dropped to 15.09 ETH as of May 8, stated The Block's Data Dashboard.
