According to CryptoPotato, Chainlink announced the launch of Transporter, which it describes as "the next evolution of cross-chain bridging" on April 11. The application is driven by Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), allowing smart contracts to securely access data from external systems and achieve trustless data connections between blockchains.
Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov commented: “The blockchain industry has needed a secure way to move value and data between chains for years.”
Transporter will initially be available for Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon.
The Chainlink team said Transporter’s visual transaction tracker provides users with real-time updates on their cross-chain transfers.
“Transporter makes it easier to transfer large amounts of token value and critical messages between chains using the security advantages of Chainlink’s CCIP,” Nazarov explained. Chainlink has also introduced a new “lock and unlock” token transfer mechanism for CCIP. This allows native tokens like ETH to be securely transferred between different blockchain networks.
