According to The Block, in the entire year 2023, investment funds in the cryptocurrency industry spent 10.7 billion USD on investment and capital raising activities, down 68% compared to 33.3 billion USD in 2022. However, this year is still the year with the third largest mobilization in history.
In total this year, there were 1,819 capital raising deals organized by VCs, down 32% compared to 2,671 last year. Most investments were made in the first half of 2023, before plummeting for the rest of the year.
Regarding the areas that receive the most capital from funds, projects in NFT/gaming, blockchain infrastructure and Web3 still account for the majority, although the allocation rate is more spread out than in 2023.
