These are the best performers this week as Bitcoin price defends $43,000 (Market Watch)
NEAR and MINA lead the way in terms of weekly earnings, but several other alternatives follow closely.
Bitcoin fell on Christmas Eve by around $1,000 and briefly dipped below $43,000, but has managed to rebound above that level so far.
Polkadot is now the best performer among larger-cap alternatives, up 5% on a daily scale. In contrast, SOL and AVAX have cooled off after recent rallies.
BTC up to $43,000
After the unfavorable start to the previous business week, bitcoin went on the offensive on Wednesday and Friday and exceeded $44,000 on both trading days. However, the bears quickly intercepted the moves and did not allow further increases.
Moreover, BTC could not even maintain its position above the $44,000 line and was pushed back slightly. In fact, the following days were quite slow, with the cryptocurrency remaining in a tight range between $43,000 and $44,000.
On Sunday night, however, the bulls suffered. BTC slipped almost a thousand dollars and fell to $42,700 (on Bitstamp). It nevertheless reacted relatively well to this decline and recovered a large part of the losses. As a result, bitcoin is now trading above $43,000.
