XRP, Ripple’s native cryptocurrency, experienced greater capital inflows than Bitcoin and Ethereum, sparking discussions in the crypto community about a potential price surge for XRP.
A recent CoinShares report revealed that Bitcoin saw $25 million in outflows last week, while Ethereum recorded a modest $2 million inflow, and Solana experienced a $0.4 million outflow.
In contrast, XRP emerged as a standout among altcoins, attracting $5.7 million in investments, surpassing both Bitcoin and Ethereum. This influx has fueled optimism around XRP, especially amid growing interest in digital assets.
While Bitcoin and Ethereum saw significant inflows in early 2025—Bitcoin drawing $573 million and Ethereum gaining $11 million—XRP’s flows were comparatively subdued during this time.
However, XRP’s price has been steadily rising, up approximately 3% to $2.45, despite a 12% drop in trading volume. XRP’s Futures Open Interest has surged by around 65%, indicating increasing investor confidence in its future potential.
The report highlighted that digital asset investments reached a record $44.2 billion in 2024, nearly quadrupling the previous high in 2021. Even with last week’s outflows, Bitcoin remained dominant, attracting $38 billion, which accounted for 29% of total assets under management.
Ethereum also had a strong year, with $4.8 billion in inflows, more than doubling its 2021 total. Altcoins, excluding Ethereum, saw $813 million in inflows, making up just 18% of total AuM.
Donald Trump’s election victory has renewed optimism among digital asset investors. According to the CoinShares report, the US was a key driver of last year’s inflows, with US-based ETFs contributing $44.4 billion to the total.
Hopes for a more crypto-friendly regulatory environment in the US are rising. Some experts anticipate a possible settlement in the Ripple-SEC case under the new SEC Chair, Paul Atkins, which could propel XRP to new heights. However, actions by the current SEC Chair, Gary Gensler, could pose short-term challenges for XRP. Despite this, analysts remain optimistic about its long-term outlook.
