WCBDC stands for Wholesale Central Bank Digital Currency. Some specialized papers are using this term a lot. In fact it is not some single digital currency like people would think—it’s way more complex than just buying XRP and calling it the 'holy grail” .It would be too simple. wCBDC is a concept that is still getting shape inside the labs of the core financial organizations. Until it is defined I think that every coin that supports inter-ledger communication needs a closer look. Because it is where you see movement right now. It will be always a combination of private and public ledgers. So inter ledger communication and protocols are very important. The money of all banks will never be put on one ledger no matter how fancy and advanced it looks. Private ledgers will dictate the rules to public ledgers.Not other way around. And there are still A LOT of problems to resolve. 2030 is the year it should be ready. It is not ready yet.

I was reading a recent BIS report about the work being done to modernize the global banking system, particularly about their project Rialto. What caught my attention was the point made by the WEF (World Economic Forum) advising a focus not on one particular coin but on the integration of different settlement and messaging systems. The use of public ledgers (such as XRPL, for example) was mentioned only once briefly. It seems this would only come into play if everything else—CBDCs, messaging systems, and smart contracts—is functioning smoothly . Not one particular coin mentioned but ANY coin that can satisfy some financial security checks. And it will not happen tomorrow and even not immediately after January 20,2025.
