CRYPTO PAYMENT GIANT MOONPAY RECEIVES EU MICA APPROVAL
Crypto payment platform MoonPay has taken an important step towards expanding its operations in Europe by obtaining a license in the Netherlands under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation.
This license, obtained from the Dutch Financial Markets Authority on December 30, 2024, allows MoonPay to offer fiat-crypto and crypto-fiat payment services across Europe.
MoonPay co-founder and CEO Ivan Soto-Wright described the approval as “an important step in solidifying the role of the crypto industry in the global economy.”
The MiCA regulation aims to increase consumer protection, transparency and market stability by providing a unified legal framework for digital assets within the European Economic Area.
By obtaining this certification, MoonPay proves its compliance with the stringent standards set and positions itself to expand its services and play a leading role in innovation in the European crypto ecosystem.
This development is considered a strategic step towards strengthening MoonPay’s presence in the European market.
It is also seen as part of the European efforts to legitimize crypto services.
As a result, MoonPay’s MiCA license is an important milestone in terms of regulating and expanding crypto services in Europe.
This step demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing more secure and regulated services to its users in Europe.
