The recent surge in Bitcoin's value, surpassing $100,000, has led to a significant increase in new Bitcoin holders. As of December 2024, the global cryptocurrency ownership rate is estimated at 6.8%, with over 560 million crypto owners worldwide.

In the United States, cryptocurrency awareness and ownership have reached record levels, with 40% of American adults now owning crypto, up from 30% in 2023.

The number of Bitcoin wallets has also seen substantial growth. As of March 2024, there are over 46 million Bitcoin wallets holding at least $1 in value. However, it's noteworthy that less than half of these wallets (approximately 21.5 million) hold more than $100, and around 22.2% hold more than $1,000.

This influx of new holders is contributing to the diversification of Bitcoin ownership, with a notable increase in the number of smaller investors entering the market. The rise in Bitcoin's value and the growing number of holders underscore the cryptocurrency's expanding role in the global financial landscape.
