President Biden ordered all federal government executive departments and agencies to close on January 9, 2025, in honor of the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter.

Biden stated that, for reasons of national security, defense, or other public needs, the heads of federal government executive departments and agencies may decide to keep some offices and facilities open. Previously, the White House had announced January 9, 2025, as a national day of mourning.
