Meme coins are one of the hottest trends in the cryptocurrency market in 2024. While most investors see meme coins as an opportunity to make profits, they can play a greater role. MIRA is one such example.

The story of Runway founder Chen Siqi is an illustration of how to use meme coins in a meaningful way.

MIRA Token: The Social Benefits of Meme Coin

In September 2024, Chen Siqi painfully shared the news that his 4-year-old daughter Mira was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Mira was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor known as craniopharyngioma. Although benign, the tumor is located in a crucial part of her brain.

However, after surgery, Mira's health improved.

During her treatment, many supporters suggested raising funds for Mira. However, Siqi encouraged supporters to donate to the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation. Little did he expect that a user named Waddles would create a meme coin called MIRA on Solana to support research efforts and donate half of the supply to him.

“When I saw the story about Mira and her illness, I wanted to buy some and send it to you, hoping to get the Solana community to support this charity at Christmas. I am really happy that things have developed this way, and I hope this money can help Mira and others with this disease find a cure,” Waddles wrote on his account.

Siqi promised not to keep any funds for himself, but committed to donating 100% of the proceeds to research. He decided to sell 1% of the MIRA assets daily and continuously update his personal page to publish sales reports. Surprisingly, the price of the token not only did not drop, but soared instead. Siqi was astonished by the community's support for the MIRA token, which made the value of his holdings exceed $14 million.
