The ICP Chain Fusion Hackathon: Bitcoin Edition has concluded and we are pleased to announce the winners. This four-week hackathon challenged participants to combine Bitcoin and Internet Computer technologies to produce some truly innovative projects.

A decentralized multi-chain platform that integrates Bitcoin into the Internet Computer ecosystem, enabling direct Bitcoin transactions and management of Bitcoin-native assets such as Runes and Ordinals through advanced Taproot transactions and smart contract capabilities.
🎉 Best use of Bitcoin API - Runic Swap (ICP Developer Grant $5,000)
RunicSwap is an AMM-based DEX optimized for the exchange of tokens like Runestone with Bitcoin, ICP, and ckBTC, utilizing the Bitcoin integration of the Internet Computer for decentralized finance applications.

Using ICP as Bitcoin L2 (Part One) - Jessie Mongeon (@JessieWritesx)
In this workshop, Jessie from DFINITY discussed how to use ICP as a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution, explaining how ICP's Bitcoin integration allows containers to interact directly with the Bitcoin network for transactions, hosting, and data queries.
The session includes a demonstration of deploying containers locally and details about upcoming workshops, and reminds everyone that all sessions will be recorded and available for later viewing.
Using ICP as Bitcoin L2 (Part Two) - Oleksandr Tkachenko
Alex from DFINITY explored how to use ICP as a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution, highlighting threshold Schnorr signatures and Bitcoin Taproot transactions. He detailed how ICP's Chain Key cryptography and decentralization enable efficient cross-chain asset management and provided technical guidance on enhancing Bitcoin capabilities through smart contracts using these tools.
Decentralized Bitcoin mining pool based on ICP - Andy Fajar Handika (@TalkinAndy)
Andy from Loka Mining discussed their innovative protocol that allows Bitcoin miners to sell future hash rates, similar to futures contracts. He demonstrated how their platform helps small miners access financing and provides investors with potentially cheaper Bitcoin.
The presentations included live demonstrations of their mining platform, emphasizing usability and integration with different payment systems.
