Chinese cryptocurrency reporter and blogger, Colin Wu, has spread news about positive changes regarding Bitcoin occurring in Thailand.
Notably, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has made an extremely optimistic prediction about the price of Bitcoin.
Shinawatra believes that Bitcoin will reach the milestone of 850,000 USD.
Colin Wu shared a link to an article about Thaksin Shinawatra, who is not only the former Prime Minister of Thailand but also the father of the current Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. According to Wu's tweet, Shinawatra told friends that he expects the price of Bitcoin to soar to 850,000 USD in the near future.
Shinawatra also emphasized the importance of raising awareness about Bitcoin among the public. Therefore, he recommended establishing a sandbox allowing the use of BTC for payments in Phuket, the country's famous beach tourism hub.
This initiative was proposed following the results of the recent presidential election in the United States and the expected changes in cryptocurrency policy in this country in the near future. Some politicians in Thailand believe that the United States could use Bitcoin to pay off national debt or part of the debt to creditors.
Additionally, Thailand has been conducting in-depth research on stablecoins. The goal is to identify investment opportunities in the economy without the need to print more paper money, through the issuance of coins backed by government bonds. If successfully implemented, Thaksin Shinawatra believes that the country's economy will witness impressive growth.
Thailand, along with Vietnam and Indonesia, are the top three countries in Southeast Asia in terms of Bitcoin adoption, as well as having a large number of crypto owners.
