On December 12, abstract artist Amber Vittoria released her latest series 'Auras' on Coinbase Layer 2 (L2) Base, consisting of colorful, dreamlike NFTs. After a three-phase sale for VIPs and the public, this collection of 550 abstract pixelated artworks sold out before noon.

As described in the series, each Aura represents an emotional snapshot of the human experience. Vittoria avoids coding rarity into the artwork or adding utility to reinforce the idea that each piece is a celebration of complex emotions, unique in its own right.

Pudgy Penguins launches PENGU

Pudgy Penguins has just launched PENGU on the Solana blockchain, a new token designed to power its ecosystem and deepen the connection between fans and the broader web3 world.

The team stated in a tweet that as Pudgy Penguins transition from an NFT phenomenon to a mainstream brand, PENGU will provide millions of global fans a way to stay connected with the characters. New York Red Bulls transition ticketing to the blockchain

The New York Red Bulls have reached a 13-year agreement with Sports Illustrated tickets to rename their arena to 'Sports Illustrated Stadium' and will provide blockchain ticketing for each event starting in 2026.

The Sports Illustrated ticketing platform, built on Avalanche, will convert tickets into digital goods to reduce counterfeit tickets and provide perks like personalized content and resale tracking. Fans can also join the VIP program, Club SI, or grab digital memorabilia.

This decision makes Sports Illustrated Stadium the first major league venue to fully adopt blockchain ticketing.

Leap of Faith charity art auction benefits St. Jude Children's Hospital

Anonymous web3 creator Leap gathered over 30 NFT artists for a live charity auction at Art Basel Miami to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The lineup includes heavyweights such as Snowfro, creator of Art Blocks and Chromie Squiggles series, colorful generative artist Jimena Buena Vida, and Vinnie Hager, known for his iconic hand-drawn style. Two popular profile picture (PFP) projects, Azuki and Doodles, also joined the event.

It was reported that earlier this year, Leap raised $100,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in a single day, with his donations stemming from his father's battle with stage four prostate cancer.

Justin Aversano previews (Unknown Moments)

Justin Aversano is the portrait photographer behind the poignant 'Twin Flames' series, who unveiled a teaser for his upcoming project 'Unknown Moments,' suggesting another very personal series shot over a year on Super 8 film across seven continents.

The film aims to capture moments of shared human experience and intimacy, such as joy, struggle, and connection. Aversano combines visuals with music from the NASA Golden Record, which is a phonograph record containing sounds carried by the Voyager 1 and 2 missions, serving as a way for humanity to communicate with any potential extraterrestrial intelligent life.

Yuga Labs acquires Tokenproof technology

The team behind Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has absorbed the Tokenproof technology team (a company that creates technology for on-chain fan experiences and live events) into its R&D department.

Tokenproof is specifically designed for practical use cases to verify NFT ownership, such as allowing holders of digital goods like BAYC NFTs to access events and benefits securely without risking their wallets.

It was reported that since 2022, Tokenproof has collaborated with BAYC to host large events like ApeFest. Looking ahead, Tokenproof is expected to help develop tools for Yuga's metaverse Otherside.

Farcaster announces plans to launch its own blockchain

Decentralized social application Farcaster announced this week that it is building Ethereum L2 Snapchain, capable of processing over 10,000 transactions per second.

Snapchain will utilize OP Stack, a suite of open-source development tools aimed at supporting interoperability within the Ethereum ecosystem. Reportedly, Farcaster will offer a $2 annual plan that allows users to store up to 10,000 posts and process 500 transactions per hour.

This week, Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero released a demo of the updated Frames feature, which includes a full-screen interactive canvas based on HTML/CSS/JavaScript, reliable and fast mobile wallet transactions, the ability to save, search, and discover frames, and access to native mobile notifications.
