El Salvador, which previously attracted attention for its Bitcoin investments, is now preparing to exploit its underground wealth.
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has made a sensational announcement that the country has $3 trillion in unexploited gold reserves. This is more than 8,000% of the country's GDP. In addition, valuable minerals such as cobalt, nickel, and lithium have been discovered, which are key to the fourth industrial revolution.
Bukele's estimate is based on the latest research conducted in the country. According to this data, 50 million ounces of reserves have been discovered in potential gold deposits, which is only 4% of the total. Based on this, the Salvadoran government concludes that its underground resources are colossal, estimating them at $3 trillion.
