I recommend everyone to take another look at this video. For beginners, shorting at resistance levels and going long at support levels is likely to be profitable. Real traders only care about two things:
1. After I buy, what should I do if the market proves me right;
2. After I buy, what should I do if the market proves me wrong.
No one can accurately predict future market trends; the only thing you rely on is rules—consistent trading rules that keep you on the side of the probabilities in this game.
Profit is not gained by predicting market trends but by relying on "minimizing losses when you're wrong and maximizing profits when you're right." This is the biggest difference between a practitioner and an analyst.
Your goal in buying is not to lose money but to make a profit and maximize that profit as much as possible: when the trend is in your favor, be greedy and let profits run; when the trend is against you, stop fantasizing and cut your losses.
Volatility comes from the market, but risk does not come from the market; it comes from your trading and your ability to control risk. In a market with low risk, if you do not control risk, it can be infinitely magnified. In a market with high risk, understanding how to control risk can significantly reduce that risk. If you cannot control the market, you certainly cannot control your own trading; there is no greater risk than the risk in your hands.
Whether it’s a strategy or a plan, once executed, it must be followed strictly because you are only relatively objective when formulating strategies outside the market. Once you are in the market, you lose rational judgment, and the only solution at that time is to execute the established strategy.
If you make random decisions in the market every day, then none of your past costs or accumulated trading experiences can help you. At that point, there is no difference between an experienced trader and a novice; both are blind and hopeful.
Let’s make trading simpler; there are too many factors influencing the market. No one knows which factor will come into play. Keep your trading simple and trade in your own way!
