Following #Russia , which has recently passed many laws regarding cryptocurrencies, #Iran has also made a regulatory move. The Iranian Finance Minister stated that the government wants to regulate cryptocurrencies instead of restricting them.

Iran, which is known for its prohibitive policies on cryptocurrencies in recent years but regulates some mining activities, has decided to change its method in this area. Iranian Finance Minister Abdulnaser Hemmati said, “We do not want cryptocurrencies to be restricted, but regulated.”

“To minimize youth unemployment…”

According to past information from the Iranian news agency IRNA, Hemmati stated that they want to support this area in a way that will continue the path of youth and reduce unemployment, as the regulations that will eliminate the negative effects of cryptocurrencies will work. The minister also said that the central bank will no longer control cryptocurrencies.

Hemmati also stated that they hope to prevent US sanctions thanks to cryptocurrencies.

They had imported with cryptocurrencies

As it will be remembered, a trade with cryptocurrencies was also investigated in Iran about 2 years ago. An import was made by paying 10 million cryptocurrencies, but no other details were shared.

Russia, which was previously against cryptocurrencies, has also been doing some work in the recent period and it does not go unnoticed that it has paved the way for trade with cryptocurrencies. Iran and Russia, which have been heavily affected by US penalties and operate mostly in the East, especially China, in their natural gas and oil sales, have been more positive towards cryptocurrencies in recent years in order to avoid Western sanctions.
