💥ADDITIONAL LESSON ON GREED
An 85-year-old artist was defrauded of $135,000 while trying to sell artwork as an NFT.
The scammer posed as an art dealer, luring the victim to mint NFTs on a fake platform resembling OpenSea. They then asked the victim to pay a fee to withdraw funds, but in reality, it was to seize their assets.
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office has shut down 40 scam websites related to the incident. However, recovering the lost funds is very difficult as they have been transferred to accounts in Nigeria.
This incident serves as a wake-up call for those wanting to enter the NFT market. By raising awareness and implementing security measures, we can minimize the risk of falling victim to scams.
The heartbreaking story of the 85-year-old artist has provided us with a valuable lesson about greed. There is no easy path to wealth. If an investment opportunity sounds too good to be true, it very well might be a trap.
