Blockchain-powered World Mobile and Vodacom Mozambique Collaborate on Aerostat Internet Project

Blockchain-powered telecommunications company World Mobile has partnered with Vodacom Mozambique to deploy an aerostat, a tethered, lighter-than-air balloon, to provide internet and mobile services in Mozambique. The project, which started in November, aims to connect 100,000 users using the aerostat, which is positioned 300 meters off the ground and is equipped with telecom equipment. It is described as the world's first commercial aerostat and provides connectivity comparable to high-speed fiber optics. World Mobile already has 60,000 paying customers in Africa and is focused on providing cost-effective and quick-to-deploy solutions for remote regions. The company has previously utilized unused television spectrum and Starlink technology in field tests in Kenya, Mozambique, and Nigeria.
