Mars Finance News, according to Bitcoin.com, Cobra, the maintainer of the Bitcoin.org domain, has issued an early warning that a user-activated soft fork (UASF) may emerge on the Bitcoin network in 2025 due to anonymous external developers initiating it. The Bitcoin Core project introduces CTV (CheckTemplateVerify) functionality. CTV aims to introduce the concept of smart contracts, allowing the establishment of conditions for spending Bitcoin in specific wallets.

This proposal originates from Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 119 (BIP 119), proposed by Jeremy Lubin and primarily used to enhance transaction security. Proponents argue that CTV could provide a safer cold storage solution, while opponents worry that it could affect Bitcoin's fungibility and increase the complexity of the codebase. Cobra stated that due to potential litigation risks, these improvements will be pushed forward by core developers who are not Bitcoin developers, which could create a significant divide between 'maintainers' and 'improvers.'
