Confiscation is a sure source of income.

▫️Not all cryptocurrencies are bought by states. A significant part of digital assets ends up in their possession due to confiscation.

The US is in the lead here, where authorities regularly confiscate bitcoins from cybercriminals. In 2021 alone, the Department of Justice confiscated more than 70,000 BTC associated with the underground Silk Road market. These assets were subsequently sold at auctions, but it seems that such sales are now a thing of the past.

According to the new bill, the US Treasury Department can purchase 1 million bitcoins over 5 years - 200 thousand BTC each year. Currently, the US balance sheet contains almost 210 thousand BTC, 60 thousand ETH and other cryptocurrencies worth more than $20 billion.
