The second-largest dog-themed coin by market capitalization, Shiba Inu (SHIB), had a stellar growth day on Saturday, as this Ethereum-based token surged to its highest price in eight months—while the top coin, Dogecoin (DOGE), had a more modest gain.
Shiba Inu saw a spike on Saturday evening, rising to a price of $0.00002969 before cooling slightly to the current price of $0.00002897. Even at this lower price, SHIB is still up over 12% for the day—and the last time it peaked on Saturday was on April 1, eight months ago.
According to data from CoinGecko, this is the strongest gainer among the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, followed by Filecoin with a 10% increase for the day.
Dog-themed meme coins are not really hot today, with Bonk (BONK) and Dogwifhat (WIF) only rising about 1% each in the past 24 hours. But Ethereum-based Floki (FLOKI) has increased nearly 6% today.
Meanwhile, Dogecoin is nearing a one-week high at its current price of over $0.43, up 3% for the day. Last Saturday, DOGE reached a three-year high of $0.475; but even at its current price, DOGE has risen 164% in the past month.
Another prominent meme coin, Brett (BRETT)—the top meme coin minted on the Ethereum layer 2 Base network—has surged to an all-time high price of $0.2032 on Saturday and has now increased by 17% in the past 24 hours.
