Although Morocco has officially banned cryptocurrencies since 2017, many young Moroccans are still interested in the field and see it as an investment opportunity. The Central Bank of Morocco is currently working on developing a legal framework to regulate cryptocurrencies, and there is talk of launching a “digital dirham” as an official digital currency.
However, dealing with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum remains illegal, exposing users to penalties. But technological developments are pushing many to use platforms such as Binance and $BTC $ETH informally.
