Origin of BNB Coin BNB (Binance Coin) is the native digital currency issued by Binance, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange. BNB was originally issued in 2017 through an ICO (Initial Coin Offering) with the purpose of providing trading fee discounts, paying fees, and participating in IEOs (Initial Exchange Offerings) on the Binance platform. Initially, BNB was issued based on the ERC-20 standard of Ethereum, but later Binance created its own blockchain - Binance Chain - and migrated BNB to that chain.
