A fake Xumm Wallet application has appeared in the Google Chrome store, targeting users of the open XRPL blockchain. Using this plugin, scammers steal XRP coins. Xumm Wallet is one of the most widely used wallets in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem, and attackers often take advantage of it. The malicious extension in Google Chrome has already received more than 40 positive reviews. This tactic is often used by scammers to convince unsuspecting users that the app is genuine. Victims of fraud only realize the danger after transferring funds to the wallet address created using the plugin. The generated initial phrase gets to the attackers, and the deceived person is irrevocably deprived of his crypto assets. The fake Xumm Wallet extension is still present in the Google Chrome store and has about 42 users. However, users should be wary that there are many typos in the description of the counterfeit product. Additionally, the original Xumm Wallet is available for download through the Google Play and App Store and has over 600,000 active users. Therefore, crypto enthusiasts are advised to refrain from installing a fake application even out of curiosity. Recently, the market has been flooded with fraudulent cryptocurrency applications. Recently it became known that due to a fake Ledger Live application in the Microsoft store, users lost 16.8 BTC worth $588,000.
