🇲🇦 A draft law on digital currencies is being prepared in Morocco.
This is what Bank Al-Maghrib, the Moroccan central bank, announced.
It is worth noting that digital currencies have been banned in Morocco since 2017, but the Moroccan people continue to use them discreetly, bypassing the restrictions imposed.
The central bank is also exploring the possibility of creating a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
“With regard to central bank digital currencies, as is the case in many countries around the world, we are studying the extent to which this new type of currency contributes to achieving certain public policy objectives, particularly in the area of financial inclusion.”
