Coinbase announced that it will stop supporting direct deposits of wages in crypto starting November 25

Coinbase announced that it will stop supporting the direct crypto paycheck feature starting November 25. The company recommends that users remove their Coinbase accounts from their payroll accounts to avoid delays in receiving their paychecks.

A Coinbase spokesperson told Decrypt that the company decided to phase out the feature, but plans to launch a more optimized retail direct deposit experience in the future. The new feature, called "Coinbase Wallet Direct Deposit," will be rolled out to eligible users in the coming months, allowing customers to receive their wages directly in the form of cryptocurrency and deposit it into their Coinbase wallet.

The decision sparked user dissatisfaction, with many customers who relied on the feature for regular cryptocurrency investments expressing their disappointment on social media. The Coinbase support team acknowledged that the service outage does cause limitations, but hoped that it would lead to long-term improvements.

At present, Coinbase has not announced the specific launch date of the new wallet service, which may result in a service gap between the deactivation of current functions and the activation of new functions.

(Seoul News) - South Korea’s ruling party intends to move forward with plans to tax cryptocurrency gains from early 2025, rather than approving a further delay, according to reports.

Initially, a 20% tax on cryptocurrency gains (22% plus local taxes) was set to take effect on January 1, 2022. Due to strong opposition from investors and industry experts, the plan has been postponed twice to January 1, 2025.  Despite discussions and proposals for further postponement, including one suggesting implementation from 2028, the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) remains committed to implementing the tax plan on time, according to local media reports.

However, the party is revising the plan to increase the tax deduction limit for cryptocurrency gains under 2.5 million won ($1,795) to 50 million won ($35,919). The Democratic Party plans to vote on the bill at a National Assembly taxation subcommittee on Nov. 25 and at the National Assembly plenary session on Nov. 26.
