Just a chill guy (CHILLGUY), one of the newest members of the Solana blockchain, is facing accusations of trademark plagiarism.
The super memecoin cycle brought many altcoins to the sector. Memecoins such as PNUT, ACT and GOAT achieved sensational increases and reached the top.
CHILLGUY, which was released recently, also went viral in a short time. Reaching a market value of close to $500 million, CHILLGUY was appreciated by the Solana community.
A striking accusation came to CHILLGUY, who is expected to enter Binance like PNUT and GOAT. PhillipBankss, the creator of the figure that CHILLGUY preferred as an icon, said that Chill Guy owns the copyright. The artist stated that he will initiate action against the CHILLGUY team for using the image without permission.
Solana memecoin CHILLGUY heavily accused
The viral “Just a chill guy” cartoon has become a memecoin on the Solana blockchain. An entrepreneur launched CHILLGUY through Pump.fun. The crypto community flocked to the memecoin in hopes that it would become a new trend. CHILLGUY, which was launched on the Raydium exchange on November 15, has risen by nearly 37,000 percent in a week.
The creator of the figure that Memecoin covered has announced that he does not want his work to be used in the crypto space. The artist stated that he will take legal action against projects that use his drawing without permission. The crypto community stated that PhillipBankss is trying to get money from the project team. Community members advised the artist to get rich and retire by selling the image rights to the project team.
PhillipBankss noted the following;
“I should point out that I have purchased the copyright to chill guy. I will be legally exercising my rights and will be removing the for-profit initiatives in the next few days.”
The artist stated that he did not approve of his works being used in crypto and that the initiatives in question were implemented without his consent.
The CHILLGUY community believes that CHILLGUY will continue to grow despite PhillipBankss's lawsuit threats. Community members predict that CHILLGUY will rise whether the artist supports it or not.
However, some defended the artist's decision, saying that he is an artist and "not a scammer."
Stay tuned.
