One of the largest research and medical centers in Canada, University Health Network (UHN), announced that its Toronto Western Hospital will be the first outside the United States to implant a wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) from Neuralink.

The institution is engaged in research in the field of neurology, psychiatry, genetics and other medical disciplines. It is developing new treatment methods and technologies. The CAN-PRIME study plans to "assess the safety of the implant and surgical robot, the functionality of the BCI and the ability to give people the ability to control external devices with the power of thought."
