Russian authorities announced plans to suspend cryptocurrency mining in several regions this winter to combat electricity shortages. The ban will affect the Irkutsk region, parts of Buryatia, Transbaikalia, and six regions of the North Caucasus, including Chechnya and Dagestan. In Siberia, the ban will last from December 1 to March 15, 2025, while in the North Caucasus and Ukraine-controlled regions, it will be year-round from December 2024 to March 2031.
