Investment or Gambling? My Rise and Fall in the Cryptocurrency World, Teaching You to Recognize the Truth!
Back in the day, when I was a newbie in the industry, I had tens of thousands of dollars and started playing with small cryptocurrencies (like NEO, EOS, LRC, etc.), and the profits were even better than winning the lottery, I felt so inflated inside, it was simply euphoric! What foolish things did I do? First, I looked down on my previous ordinary job and almost fired my boss; then, I mistakenly thought I was lucky in wealth, became addicted to buying lottery tickets, and kept betting more; also, I fell into the “winner's curse,” thinking I could earn even more, but ended up deeper and deeper; finally, when that wave of market trends passed, I lost a fortune and kept increasing my investment, hoping to break even.
Fortunately, I am fundamentally grounded; I didn't do those things like flaunting wealth or borrowing money from relatives and friends, nor did I reach the point where I only wanted to rely on lottery tickets to solve difficulties. My friends in real life still do not know about my “glory” during that time.
Those days were truly painful and reflective. I earned tens of thousands of dollars and lost tens of thousands of dollars, it was an unpleasant feeling. I spent a full three months tossing and turning at night, and finally realized: I was treating investment as gambling! I clarified the essential difference between investment and gambling, learned to look at probabilities and understand risks. By October 2018, I completely quit that reckless investment approach, and no matter how much I lost on those small cryptocurrencies, I painfully cut my losses and exchanged them for the more stable Ethereum.
