According to reports, American entrepreneur Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the United States 'Department of Government Efficiency' (DOGE), which is currently recruiting talent. Recently, the 'Department of Government Efficiency' posted a recruitment notice on its official X platform account.

'We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at the 'Department of Government Efficiency' (DOGE). We do not need more part-time creative creators, but rather super high-IQ small government reformers who are willing to work over 80 hours a week, focusing on tedious cost-cutting work.' This recruitment notice stated, 'If you are that kind of person, please send your resume directly to this account. Elon and Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants.'

Musk added in a post: 'Indeed, this will be a tedious job, making many enemies, with zero compensation. What a deal!' He also attached a 'laughing-crying' emoji at the end of the text.

The aforementioned recruitment post has garnered about 16 million views, with many netizens eager to participate, stating that 'the government should reduce waste and allocate resources where they are truly needed.' Others commented, 'If it requires working 10-15 hours a day, it doesn’t sound efficient,' and 'you don’t necessarily need high-IQ people; you need people with a high level of common sense.'

On November 12, local time, elected President Trump announced that entrepreneur Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will jointly lead the proposed 'Department of Government Efficiency' after he takes office. Trump stated that the 'Department of Government Efficiency' will 'pave the way for dismantling government bureaucracy, cut unnecessary regulatory regulations and wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies.'

In recent days, there has been much discussion about how DOGE will operate.

In an interview in October, Musk stated that his goal is to cut government spending by $2 trillion. This figure exceeds the total spending of the U.S. federal government in the previous fiscal year on defense, education, veterans' healthcare, and other discretionary programs. $2 trillion is also nearly one-third of the U.S. government's annual spending. Experts believe these cost reductions may lead to deregulation and policy changes, which will directly affect Musk's companies, especially Tesla, SpaceX, and social media platform X.

Musk also stated that he wants to streamline government departments. He mentioned on social media that the number of U.S. federal government agencies should be reduced by about 75%, leaving only 99 out of 428 agencies. According to U.S. media reports, the agencies and departments that Musk plans to cut include the Federal Trade Commission, the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Justice, and the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also intends to take action against the Department of Education and National Public Radio.

Musk's partner and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy supports 'massive layoffs'. He has stated that federal employees will be fired based on their social security numbers. 'If your social security number ends in an odd number, you will be fired; if it ends in an even number, you stay. This will shrink the size of the government by half.'

Trump stated that the work of the 'Department of Government Efficiency' will conclude no later than July 4, 2026. They will examine the operations of U.S. federal agencies from the perspective of 'efficiency', aiming to 'eliminate massive waste and fraud' from the annual $6.5 trillion government spending.

However, U.S. media pointed out that despite the seemingly grand functions of the department, it is not a formal government agency, and Musk and Ramaswamy are not official federal employees, equivalent to 'no formal establishment.'

It is still unclear how this organization will operate. It may be subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which outlines how external groups providing advice to the government must operate and be accountable to the public.
