🚨Ukrainian cryptocurrency holders suffered a shocking robbery in Thailand, and global investors are on the alert!
An armed robbery targeting cryptocurrency holders recently occurred in Phuket, Thailand. According to the Bangkok Post, 23-year-old Ukrainian Viacheslav Leibov was invited to a hotel room by Alfred Chernyshuk, whom he knew, where he met Arman Grigoryan.
The seemingly harmless conversation took a sharp turn when Leibov went to the bathroom. Two masked robbers suddenly broke in, tied him up and threatened to cut off his fingers, forcing him to transfer 500,000 USDT.
After a tense standoff, Leibov managed to reduce the ransom to 250,000 USDT and transferred it to the wallet designated by the robbers. The robbers then tied him to the bed, ordered him to remain silent, and fled the scene.
After Leibov escaped, he immediately asked the hotel staff for help and confirmed that Chernyshuk and Grigoryan were the registered residents of the room. and tried to intercept the robbers at the airport, but failed, and then reported the case to the police.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that a crime has occurred against cryptocurrency holders in Thailand. Not long ago, five Russian men were accused of kidnapping a Belarusian couple on this holiday island and forcing them to transfer 31 million baht worth of cryptocurrency.
A month later, there was another case of a Russian gang robbing fellow countrymen of Bitcoin in Thailand. The victim couple was initially threatened to transfer Bitcoin worth about 112 million baht, but eventually reached a deal with Bitcoin worth about 1.8 million baht.
In another incident in July, five foreigners were detained for violently robbing a British cryptocurrency trader in Bangkok.
Recently, four Chinese citizens were suspected of forcibly breaking into a luxury home in Pathum Thani Province and forcing the victims to transfer $2 million in cryptocurrency.
These cases remind us that cryptocurrency investors, both at home and abroad, must be vigilant to ensure that their digital assets and personal security are fully protected.
