US Senator Cynthia Lummis has proposed that the Federal Reserve sell some of its gold reserves to buy bitcoins.
According to the bill, it is planned to purchase 200,000 BTC annually for five years, which will amount to 5% of the total volume of bitcoins and will require about $90 billion.
Lummis believes that bitcoin can strengthen the dollar's position and protect against inflation, although experts warn of the high risks of such an initiative.
