On Friday, October 8, the co-founder of @Jupiter 🪐 Weremeow appeared at the Jup Rally, where he was able to answer some questions that the community wanted to know regarding the upcoming #Airdrop🪂 of #jupiter .
As is known, the next airdrop from Jupiter, known as 'Jupuary', will be contingent on an upcoming vote. That is, the #DAO of Jupiter will vote on whether or not the next airdrop of Jupiter will take place.
If the airdrop is approved, it would be considered as 'a gift' from Jupiter to its users. Additionally, users chosen for the airdrop will be encouraged to hold their #tokens #JUP and not to claim immediately to sell it.
How would this mechanism work?
Basically, two options are being proposed for the claim. The first is that the users chosen for the airdrop can instantly claim their tokens, but they will incur a penalty that will reduce their tokens by 75%, resulting in them only receiving 25% of the JUP tokens they were allocated.
The other option that will be proposed is that the tokens corresponding to the airdrop are locked for a period (which is yet to be determined), and the entire amount of JUP tokens can be claimed at the end of the defined period.
This new mechanism would reduce selling pressure on JUP tokens.
A mechanism could also be implemented that would allow the locked JUP tokens from the airdrop to be used for voting in the DAO, which would benefit everyone.
Regarding the snapshot and eligibility criteria for the airdrop, nothing is clear, but they did mention that they will be a bit drastic with the eligibility criteria compared to the first airdrop, where everyone received it with just a few transactions.
Finally, Jupiter will hold an in-person event at the end of January, where it has already been announced that they will burn 30% of the JUP tokens, which would reduce the total supply. This was pending from the last vote.
It is expected that the voting for the airdrop will be this month and some mentioned details could be modified.
