Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mao Ning said China will continue to work with the United States under the Trump administration, but said they will face fiercer competition than they did under President Joe Biden.

"Our policy toward the US remains consistent. We will continue to view and handle China-US relations with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation," Ning said at a press conference.

It is known that Trump will impose taxes of more than 60% on Chinese imports. Therefore, analysts say that the shadow of the upcoming trade war has shaken the Chinese leadership.

“Beijing anticipated a tight contest in the US election. While Trump’s victory was not the outcome China wanted and raised concerns, it was not entirely unexpected,” said Tong Zhao, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
