The Telegram messenger team has introduced the October update. The video player has been radically changed, users can now attach photos to already sent messages, and much more.
Updated video player
The player has gained the ability to change video quality (480p, 720p, and 1080p). The quality may change automatically depending on internet speed;
Support for 'picture-in-picture' mode has been added. When Telegram is closed, the video will continue to play in a mini-window;
Since users are no longer required to watch video recordings in the same resolution in which they were uploaded, channel owners can afford to upload higher quality videos.
Now videos do not need additional preparation for publication - Telegram will optimize them automatically and save them in several versions with different compression levels, the developers reported.
Changes in chats
There is now the ability to attach photos, videos, and documents to already sent messages. To do this, you need to select 'Edit' and click the paperclip icon;
Now the time when a user edited a message is visible. It is displayed in both personal and group chats;
A precise reaction counter has appeared. To find out how many specific 'hearts' or other emojis a message has, you need to hold down the selected reaction;
Internal hashtags have appeared. They differ from public topics in that they allow users to search for messages only in a specific group or channel. Internal hashtags have the format '#hashtag@username'.
Later, Pavel Durov announced changes on his channel that will mainly affect mini-apps and improve the gaming experience for users.
Here are the features that, according to Durov, will soon be added to the messenger:
Fullscreen mode for games and applications;
Adding Mini Apps shortcuts to the home screen;
Subscription rates for Telegram Stars;
Application access to geolocation with user permission;
Device orientation data;
Access to Emoji status;
Media file sharing;
Gift sharing;
Expansion of message exchange limits;
Monetization.
One of the key innovations will be the fullscreen mode, which will allow users to fully immerse themselves in working with applications. Additionally, users will be able to create shortcuts on the home screen, simplifying access to frequently used apps and channels.
Subscription plans will provide new opportunities for content monetization, and access to geolocation with user consent will pave the way for additional location-based app features.
Device orientation data will help develop interactive services, while enhanced media file sharing will simplify interaction with content. The ability to send gifts and use emoji statuses will make communication even more diverse and personal.
At the same time, increased limits on messages and ad monetization are already available. Thanks to this, Telegram is becoming an attractive platform for creating and promoting applications.
Mini Apps are a way to integrate web applications directly into the Telegram interface. Using JavaScript, developers can create interfaces that replace full-fledged websites.

One of the main and promising projects that will launch soon is TON Teleport.
This is a bridge that allows BTC owners in the main network to transfer their Bitcoin to the TON network. You connect both wallets to mint 1 BTC for 1 tgBTC. This wrapped Bitcoin can then be used as collateral or in staking to earn profits in the TON network.
