As of November 3 local time in the U.S., more than 75 million Americans have voted early, with nine states reporting that over 50% of eligible voters have cast their ballots.

Michael McDonald, a political science professor at the University of Florida, stated that based on early voting predictions, the overall voter turnout for this year's election could be between approximately 60% in 2016 and 67% in 2020, although the turnout will not reach the historic high of 2020, it will still be at a historically high level.

Based on the total number of votes in the 2020 election, the current early voters represent about one-third of all voters, making it very likely that the election results will be tallied within one or two days after the official voting on November 5.

This year's early voting dynamics are quite intense, with Republicans, who traditionally prefer to vote on Election Day, clearly changing their minds this year, as their early voting numbers have significantly increased, closely matching the turnout of registered Democratic voters.

As of last Saturday, among the 570,000 Republicans who voted early in Pennsylvania, over 40% voted on Election Day in 2020, indicating a significant shift in Republican voting behavior.

Democrats still hold the advantage

The latest data shows that among early voters nationwide, 41% are Democrats, 39% are Republicans, and 20% are independents and others.

From the available early voting data across states, registered Democrats lead in 18 states, while Republican voters lead in 22 states.

In Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Massachusetts, independent voters and others currently lead in voting; Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, and Washington D.C. have not conducted early voting or do not register party affiliation, making comparison impossible.

For voters in seven battleground states, this year's election is particularly stressful and exhausting. Gunner Robblee, a 22-year-old hairstylist from Nevada, said waiting in line filled him with anticipation, and he would break a sweat almost every few steps.

Nevertheless, there have been some setbacks in election processes across the U.S. A key county in the battleground state of Pennsylvania failed to deliver thousands of mail-in ballots to voters, while another county in the state reported erroneously rejecting voters' ballots before the voting deadline.

Another battleground state, Georgia, also claimed to have found evidence of Russian interference in the election.

Colorado is even more absurd, claiming that some passwords for its election machines have been leaked.

However, according to election officials across the U.S., these issues were quickly identified and resolved, demonstrating the integrity of American election processes and are not expected to have a significant impact on the election results.
