A fake Curve Finance protocol app has caught the attention of the crypto community.
Despite warnings from experts, the software appeared on the list of top 100 financial apps in the Apple App Store.
In France, the fake app reached 14th place in the mentioned category.
The fake Curve Finance protocol software has gained widespread popularity in the Apple App Store. The fake software briefly entered the top 100 programs in the Finance category.
One of the first to notice the suspicious development for Apple smartphones was a fintech expert nicknamed Babu. He discovered that in France, an application called Curve defi v3 is ranked 14th in the list of the best financial programs in the App Store.
In the description, the software creators claimed to have an audience of 30 million users worldwide. In addition, customers were offered fast token exchange, staking, and various DeFi services. At the same time, reviews of the application clearly hinted at the fraudulent nature of the program and warned about counterfeiting.
The expert noted that the product developers carefully imitated their involvement in the real protocol. They used the Curve Finance color palette and copied the project logo.
Later, some cybersecurity experts noted that Apple employees had begun taking steps to block the malicious application. However, there is currently no information about the nature of the threat posed by this software.
The current incident is not the only one of its kind. The fake Curve Finance app has appeared on the network before. In February 2024, the protocol team warned users that the DeFi Curve App was disguised as an official project development.
The description of the software stated that the application allows you to manage digital finances.
