The US government wallet was hacked, and $20 million in assets were stolen
On October 25, Arkham monitored that the wallet controlled by the US government was hacked, and the loss of funds was as high as $20 million. These funds originally came from the seized funds in the Bitfinex hacking case in 2016.
The hacker transferred the funds to the wallet starting with "0x348" and quickly converted the stablecoin to ETH. Currently, the hacker is laundering money through suspicious addresses.
Previously, the US government address had withdrawn $6.57 million in stablecoins from Aave and transferred it to the wallet designated by the hacker. Subsequently, the hacker quickly exchanged most of the USDC for ETH.
This incident once again reminds us that network security cannot be ignored.
